According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber Crime) Shaivya Goyal, the victim, Manoj Nehra, son of Gajendra Singh, lodged a report stating that he had come into contact with a woman named Mahi through Facebook. Over time, they also started communicating on WhatsApp, and he gradually began trusting her.
The woman reportedly told Nehra that she operated an online store linked to a company in the United States. She claimed that anyone could open a similar store and receive orders, for which payments had to be made initially. Once the delivery was completed, she assured, the amount would be credited to a digital wallet with a profit of 15–20 percent.
Believing her, Nehra expressed a desire to start his own online store. The woman sent him a link, and he began operating it. He said he kept depositing money for ongoing orders, and at one point, when funds fell short, she also provided financial assistance — further gaining his trust. Over time, he deposited nearly ₹60 lakh into the online platform, only to later realize it was a fraud.
Police have registered a case based on the complaint and are examining the details to trace the accused and recover the money. The investigation is underway.
