Mehsana Cyber Crime Police Bust Money Mule Gang, Two Arrested

The Mehsana Cyber Crime Police Station has uncovered a gang that allegedly helped cyber-fraudsters move crores of rupees by posing as “money mules”. Two people have been arrested in the case.

The investigation began after police noticed a rapid rise in cybercrime cases across Gujarat. Officers examined a suspicious Bandhan Bank account flagged on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCCRP). The account had complaints registered against it in several states.

The account was found to be registered under a firm named Hitesh Traders, owned by Hiteshkumar Mahendrabhai Rawal from Unjha. Although Rawal was listed as a commission agent at the Unava Ganj market, he was not found at the given address during verification.

Police discovered that the bank account opened under this firm was being used to collect money earned through cyber fraud from different parts of the country. The funds were later withdrawn using cheques. Investigators said the account had allegedly been “rented out” to cyber-fraudsters in exchange for commission.

Based on this evidence, police arrested Rawal and his associate, Piyushbhai Kantibhai Patel. According to officials, Rawal leased out his bank account for illegal transactions, while Patel assisted him in the operation.

During the probe, police found that between April 1, 2024, and November 5, 2025, the account had a credit turnover of ₹8.37 crore and a debit turnover of ₹8.53 crore. Of this, about ₹1.5 crore was linked to cyber-fraud cases. The accused also withdrew ₹1.11 lakh through cheques for personal use.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Milap Patel said the arrests send a strong message that giving someone access to your bank account for illegal activities—or leasing it out for commission—is a serious offence. He added that cybercrime teams are closely monitoring such practices.

Further investigations are ongoing based on the information provided by the arrested accused.
