Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on November 7, Rukmini shared a statement and the phone number allegedly used by the fraudster. She clarified that the number does not belong to her and urged people to avoid engaging with any calls or messages from it.
“I want to clarify that this number does not belong to me, and any messages or calls from it are completely fake. Please do not respond to or engage with such messages,” she said in her post.
The actor described the incident as a cybercrime and confirmed that appropriate legal action was being taken against those behind the impersonation. She also advised people to verify any communication through her or her official team before responding.
“Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation. Stay alert and safe online,” she added.
Responding to her post, the Bengaluru City Police urged Rukmini to report the matter to the nearest police station for investigation.
